Speak So They Feel It: How to Deliver with Confidence and Presence

I Didn’t Always Look Confident — I Just Looked Terrified
Let me tell you something I don’t always share…
There was a time when my hands shook on stage. My voice cracked. I rushed every word, trying to get through the moment instead of owning it.
On the outside, I tried to play it cool. On the inside? I was full of fear.
People told me I “seemed fine,” but I knew I wasn’t connecting. I didn’t feel powerful. I didn’t feel present. And audiences can sense that disconnect.
It wasn’t until I learned how to channel my nerves and embody my message that everything changed.
Confidence isn’t just a look. It’s a presence — and presence can be learned.
The Real Problem Isn’t Fear — It’s Unchanneled Energy
Most of us don’t need to be “less afraid.” We just need to learn where to put that energy.
If you’ve ever:
Paced nervously while speaking
Rushed your words
Spoken in a flat, robotic tone
Felt your body go stiff and unnatural…
Then you know exactly what I mean.
Your body’s trying to protect you — but it’s betraying your message.
The result? Audiences disconnect. You feel like you didn’t show up fully. And confidence starts slipping away.
But once you learn how to channel that nervous energy into presence, everything shifts. You don’t just look confident. You feel confident.
Confidence Isn’t Loud — It’s Aligned
Here’s a secret: confidence doesn’t always mean bold or loud.
Real confidence is when your body, voice, and message are aligned. You say what you mean. You mean what you say. And your energy reflects it.
When you’re aligned, people feel it. They trust you. They lean in.
And guess what? You don’t need to change who you are — you just need to get grounded in your message and own your delivery.
How to Use Body Language Like a Pro
Let’s talk body language — the part of your message that speaks before you say a single word.
Here are some things I’ve learned the hard way:
Posture is power. Standing tall, shoulders relaxed, feet grounded — this instantly shifts how people perceive you (and how you feel).
Movement should be intentional. Walking with purpose, using gestures to emphasize a point — it all helps reinforce your message.
Eye contact is connection. Not staring, but moving your eyes purposefully to make everyone in the room feel included.
Body language isn’t about “acting confident.” It’s about removing tension so the real you can shine through.
Mastering Vocal Variety to Command Attention
Want to know the quickest way to lose an audience?
Speak in a monotone voice.
We’ve all been there — the speaker who drones on in one tone, one speed, one volume. No matter how good the content is, it gets lost in the delivery.
Instead, I teach:
How to pause for power
How to speed up and slow down for impact
How to inflect your tone so people stay engaged
How to project without shouting
Your voice is an instrument. Learning to use it well is a game-changer — and we’ll work on this together during Fearless Speaking.
How I Ground Myself Before I Speak
Even now — with all my stage experience — I don’t go on “cold.” I ground myself.
Here’s what that looks like:
Deep breathing before I walk out
Visualizing my first 60 seconds
Planting my feet and owning the space
Reminding myself: I’m here to serve, not to impress
It’s not about hyping yourself up. It’s about tuning into your body, calming your system, and stepping forward with purpose.
This is a big part of what we’ll practice together at the event.
